Principal's Message

Macdonald School: A Small School with a Big Heart

My hope is that every parent/guardian, student, and staff member feels our small school's "Big Heart" when they join the Macdonald School Community. It is imperative that we strive to provide the very best opportunities for our students. The very best includes parents/guardians as team members to help develop the most well rounded human beings.

My name is Melissa Johanson, and I am honoured and privileged to be the principal of Macdonald School. I work daily with a very strong team of educators and support staff who serve the needs of our school community. I can not say enough praises about these inspiring and dedicated colleagues of mine. I know that when any student walks through the doors of our school, their teachers and Macdonald School Staff provide excellent care; academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are dedicated to provide quality instruction to every student in our daily education routines. Developing the "Whole Child" is what we strive to do every day. Providing quality instruction and experiences, knowing each child and their motivations, and providing both safe and inspiring spaces for students to learn and grow in is where the magic of education happens. We strive to provoke curiosity, provide "real life" experiences, and inspire lifelong learning in all aspects of life both at school and at home. When our students need that extra boost to get them where they need to be, we are dedicated and committed in doing so. We work alongside with families to support the success of all students.

I end this message, as a reminder to our Macdonald School Family. There is so much to be celebrated and to focus on. Each and every day we step foot on the school grounds of our "Small School" to find the hallways, schoolyard, and the school building filled with energy for a new day, new learning, and people who collectively have a "Big Heart!"

Be well and thank you all for your commitment to Macdonald School.

Sincerely,
Melissa Johanson
